God Requires Justice, Mercy and Humbleness, NOT Animal Sacrifice! By Micah. Ed. Dr. Chapman Chen

Writer: Chapman ChenChapman Chen

Micah is adamant that God will not be pleased with animal sacrifice, that He will only appreciate justice, mercy and humbleness:-

"With what shall I come before the Lord and bow down before the exalted God? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old? Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousand rivers of olive oil? Shall I offer my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." (Micah 6:6-8 NIV)

Micah was a prophet in the Old Testament, known for his messages of judgment and restoration. He lived in the 8th century BCE and was from Moresheth, a small town in Judah. Micah's prophecies were directed mainly towards Jerusalem and Samaria, condemning animal sacrifice, idolatry, social injustice, and the corruption of the wealthy and powerful. He was a contemporary of other vegan prophets like Isaiah, Amos, and Hosea.
