In relation to the choice between $10K and veganism in the 2012 movie Would You Rather (note 1), a vegan friend said to me that if offered $1 trillion, he might accept the offer because he could then use the money to save a lot of animals. My reply is as follows:
There are certain basic principles that must not be compromised. For example, would you eat your beloved pet dog if offered $1 million? Would you eat your daughter for $1 trillion? The moment you make such a compromise, you will have become a different person -- a corrupted character, unlikely to use the money thus ignobly acquired for righteous purposes. "You cannot serve two masters," as well put by Jesus (Matthew 6:24). Compassion or carnism; God or Satan. The choice is yours.
Again, money is neither good nor evil. It depends on how you use it. It is just a means to achieve the goal of a meaningful life, which is to serve God by serving His beloved creatures (Matthew 25:40; 1 John 4:20-21). And the acquisition of wealth depends on God, not on man (Deuteronomy 8:18; Matthew 6:33).
In conclusion, to borrow Pastor Robert Munro’s words, “You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons. Vegan translation: ‘Do not eat at a table where flesh is being consumed’” (Munro 2024 Facebook) (note 2).
