In the 27 June 2025 session of Dr. Will Tuttle’s and Dr. Gabriel Cousens’ course, Joy and Freedom on the Vegan Path, Dr. Cousens states that the 1,000‑year peace in Revelation, Chapter 20, following the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, will be equivalent to global veganism for at least one thousand years.

In my submission, as described in both the NT and the OT, the millennium concerned is indeed supposed to be a vegan era for all. For example, in this New Heaven and Earth, “every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them,” will be praising the Lord (Revelation 5:13); in particular, four creatures, namely, a lion, an ox, a human, and an eagle, will be worshipping God (Revelation 4:6–9). And the carnist Satan will be thrown into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:10). On the mountain of God, “the wolf will dwell with the lamb... They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain” (Isaiah 11:6–9; cf. Isaiah 65:25). Dr. Cousens thinks that this green vegan age is imminent, or at the most, just a few decades away. I cannot agree more. For we have already reached the critical point of a common shift of consciousness (cf. Tuttle and Cousens 2025).

According to Erica Chenoweth’s (2013) research, whenever 3.5% of a community is converted in favour of a non-violent movement, the chance of its eventual success is very high. Now, according to the estimates of Ipsos Global Advisor (2021), 5% of the world population is vegetarian and 3% is vegan. It follows that we have already reached the threshold of universal transformation, or are very close to it.

In 1 Peter 2:21, Jesus said that He died in order that we may follow in His footsteps. And Jesus, who said, “I desire compassion, not sacrifice,” (Matt. 9:13, 12:7), actually put His words into practice: in liberating the innocent animals from the Temple, and in calling it “a den of murderers/robbers” (Jeremiah 7:11, quoted in Mark 11:17), Jesus disrupted the lucrative business of the high priests, who immediately afterwards plotted to have Him killed (Mark 11:18; cf. Akers 2000:113–134).

Thus, if we all follow Jesus’ compassionate example, go vegan, and try to set up vegan communities (cf. Tuttle 2025), then it will be the Second Coming of the Vegan Christ, or green Heaven on Earth, or the return of the Vegan Eden. #VeganChrist #VeganGod #VeganChurch #VeganTheology
