God and Christ Care about Oxen. By Dr. Chapman Chen

According to data from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, approximately 300 million innocent cattle are brutally murdered annually for animal flesh production. Contrariwise, both Yahuah and Jesus are compassionately concerned with oxen. God thinks that slaughtering an ox is like murdering a human (Isaiah 66:3). He orders that oxen be allowed to rest on Sundays (Exodus 23:12). He reminds people to rescue an ox in trouble (Deuteronomy 22:4). And Isaiah envisions that in the New Heaven and New Earth, the lion and the fattened calf shall dwell together (Isaiah 11:69). Jesus priorities compassion for ox over strict Sabbath laws (Luke 13:15; Luke 14:5). Below please find the relevant verses:-

He who slaughters an ox is like one who kills a man” ; he who sacrifices a lamb, like one who breaks a dog's neck… like one who blesses an idol. These have chosen their own ways, and their soul delights in their abominations (Isaiah 66:3 ESV)

Better a dish of vegetables where there is love than a fattened ox with hatred. (Proverbs 15:17 BSB)

If you see your fellow Israelite’s donkey or ox fallen on the road, do not ignore it. Help the owner get it to its feet. (Deuteronomy 22:4 NIV)

Six days do your work, but on the seventh day do not work, so that your ox and your donkey may rest, and so that the slave born in your household and the foreigner living among you may be refreshed. (Exodus 23:12 NIV)

The wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the young goat, and the calf and the lion and the fattened calf together; and a little child shall lead them. The cow and the bear shall graze; their young shall lie down together; and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. The nursing child shall play over the hole of the cobra, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the adder's den. They shall not hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain; for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. (Isaiah 11:69 ESV)

The wolf and the lamb shall graze together; the lion shall eat straw like the ox, and dust shall be the serpent's food. They shall not hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain,” says the Lord. (Isaiah 65:25 ESV)

Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain. (Deuteronomy 25:4 NIV)

(In this connection, Paul the anti-vegan apostate mockingly asks “Is it about oxen that God is concerned?” (1 Cor. 9:9). He’s only concerned with his own wages (1 Timothy 5:18))

Will the wild ox consent to serve you? Will it stay by your manger at night? (Job 39: 1-30 NIV)

Jesus places compassion for oxen above rigid legalism:-

The Lord answered him, “You hypocrites! Doesn’t each of you on the Sabbath untie your ox or donkey from the stall and lead it out to give it water?” (Luke 13:15 NIV)

Then he asked them, “If one of you has a child or an ox that falls into a well on the Sabbath day, will you not immediately pull it out?” (Luke 14:5 NIV)

In conclusion, leave God’s beloved creatures like oxen alone and go vegan! Again, “better a dish of vegetables where there is love than a fattened ox with hatred” (Proverbs 15:17 BSB).
